Job Title: Apprentice Diesel Mechanic/Motor Coach Technician

Location: Golden, CO

Shift: Night Shift | Sunday – Thursday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
(First 90 days on Day Shift for training purposes)

Pay Rate: $26 – $30 per hour

Position Summary:
ACE Express Coaches is seeking an entry-level Apprentice Diesel Mechanic to join our growing maintenance team. This position is ideal for those beginning their career in diesel mechanics and looking to gain hands-on experience in maintaining and servicing a fleet of diesel buses. Under the supervision of senior technicians, the Apprentice Mechanic will assist in performing preventive maintenance, basic diagnostics, and minor repairs on motorcoaches and related systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
While other duties may be assigned, key responsibilities include:

Assist in conducting routine maintenance on diesel vehicles, including oil and filter changes, fluid checks, and tire inspections.
Learn and apply basic diagnostic procedures using tools and software under supervision.
Support experienced technicians with inspections and minor repairs on engines, brakes, and other key systems.
Read and interpret service manuals, maintenance instructions, and safety guidelines.
Keep accurate records of maintenance tasks, parts used, and work performed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shop and work areas.
Follow all company safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
Participate in on-the-job training and development to advance technical skills and knowledge.
Work collaboratively with fellow technicians and staff to support overall shop productivity and safety.
Communicate effectively with Lead Mechanic and shop supervisors regarding progress and needs.

Training: Initial 90-day training period on day shift
$1200 Annual Tool Allowance

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the following minimum requirements:

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Enrollment in or recent graduation from a Diesel Technology program preferred.

0–2 years of relevant experience in diesel or automotive maintenance.

Willingness to learn and grow into a full technician role.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid Driver’s License required.
Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsement within 12 months of hire (training and support available).

Skills and Abilities:

Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of diesel or automotive systems.
Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and follow written/verbal instructions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Willingness to work nights and occasional overtime as needed.
Reliable, punctual, and eager to develop technical skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Working Knowledge of (Preferred but Not Required):

Basic computer and diagnostic tools
Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Map and routing apps (Google Maps, Waze, etc.)
