Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Operations for our company. This role is responsible for ensuring the company’s commitment to safety, operational excellence, and exceptional customer service. The Operations Manager oversees all aspects related to CDOT driver and dispatch operations, training, and performance management, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of transportation services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Although additional duties and related tasks may be assigned, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Oversee all operations of Bustang, Outrider, and Pegasus services.
- Coordinate driver schedules and staffing to optimize operational efficiency.
- Manage staffing levels, training, and performance management to ensure a high performance
- Ensure daily operations comply with DOT/FTA regulations.
- Generate and oversee CDOT-mandated reports accurately and promptly.
- Maintain open communication with CDOT, providing timely updates on route performance.
- Address contractor requests promptly and effectively
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of Bustang, Outrider, and Pegasus routes, schedules, and fares.
- Monitor and manage driver labor and operational expenses to meet budget targets
- Conduct regular audits of timecards to ensure accurate departmental allocation
- Conduct regular driver performance reviews using internal systems and controls
- Investigate and address driver offenses and infractions, including delivering corrective actions and advising terminations in coordination with Human Resources
- Coordinate driver training with the Safety Department, monitoring progress and schedules.
- Provide remote and onsite support for incidents, accidents, and injuries as required.
- Conduct informal meetings and formal annual reviews to appraise team members.
- Recognize and reward drivers for exceptional service based on client accolades
- Investigate and resolve customer concerns, complaints, and service level agreement issues
- Collaborate with street supervisors, dispatch managers, and staff to establish goals
- Support the streamlining of daily business operations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations, company policies, procedures, and safety rules.
- Cultivate a culture of safety and responsibility among team members in collaboration with the Safety Department.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance, scheduling, and customer service, to achieve company goals and objectives. Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Perform any other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Experience
Required:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience dispatching in transportation industry.
- Three (3) or more years’ experience of recent (within the last 5 years) and relevant direct experience managing the operations of regularly scheduled fixed route public transit service similar in scope, size, and complexity of the work
- Experience supervising staff in multi-shift, multi-site environment.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing staff of ten or more.
Preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Bachelors’ degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business or related fields
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Class A or B state driver’s license with a passenger endorsement and air brakes certification preferred, but not required
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Demonstrates strong general math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Performs these operations with units of American currency, Regular and Military time, and imperial measurements of weight, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Skills
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

- This position is designated as requiring a background check due to the nature of the job responsibilities. - This position is deemed a safety-sensitive position. As a result, we require team members operating in this position to submit to random drug testing throughout the course of employment. Moreover, the Company will take appropriate action for refusing to take or failing such test.
Pay & Benefits
- $75,000 to $90,000 starting salary
