Job Description

The road supervisor supervises the daily functioning of the Bustang system to see that routes, schedules, and operating rules are followed. Under the general supervision of the Bustang Operations Manager: act as the liaison between administration and driver staff.  Operates Colorado State Owned Coaches. Provides support and assistance to bus operators in performance of their daily duties; monitors bus service; investigates and analyzes situations which may impact bus service; communicates information and/or recommendations to appropriate management personnel; interacts with management, employees, passengers, and the public to coordinate problem resolution or provide information; and maintains high quality and timely transit service.

CDOT Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a representative of the Contractor and Colorado Department of Transportation.
  • Investigates accidents, incidents, disputes, and disturbance as assigned, in accordance with policy and in conjunction with involved authorities.
  • Monitor and coach operators' performance and behavior; models passenger interaction skills; coach operators in use of time; check and instruct periodically on proper revenue, transfers, and firebox date collection; and recommends training or retraining as appropriate to ensure compliance with safety policies.
  • In collaboration with Safety, assist with coordinating revenue training for new operators.
  • Conducts time point and passenger load checks to ensure schedule and route efficiency.
  • Reschedules buses due to disruptions in service, in conjunction with dispatch and as appropriate.
  • Audits service, routes and road conditions and recommends alternate routes to dispatch or suggests service improvements to supervisors as appropriate.
  • Recommends adjustment to running time or additions/deletions to schedules and routes to ensure quality service.
  • Writes reports regarding service disruptions, security incidents and operator performance/behavior in accordance with policies and procedures. May assist operators in filing reports.
  • In collaboration with Operations, coordinate driver scheduling to achieve operational efficiency.
  • Assists in processing and follow-up of customer service complaints and requests.
  • Assesses the ability of operators to continue in service when investigating accidents, incidents, and potential substance abuse programs.
  • Coordinates problem among contractor and the private contractor operators, management, passengers and public.
  • Performs assignments during events and snow emergencies to minimize service disruption. Works with CDOT Bus Operations to assist with issues affecting contracted service, including but not limited to notifying passengers of detour routing, transporting passengers, posting notices, and directing bus operators.
  • Drive buses, cover regularly scheduled routes.
  • Prioritizes assignment and organizes time.
  • Performs physical work as needed, such as sanding icy street, assisting stuck/sidetracked buses, helping wheelchair passengers on and off buses.
  • Inspects buses for general appearance, safety compliance and maintenance condition.
  • Conducts the following in conjunction with CDOT; fare inspection, accident investigations, policy adherence campaigns, and assists in drug and alcohol program, and special campaigns as needed.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with supervision of personnel, including recommendations for hiring, performance evaluation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Schedule Requirements: 
Work Schedule:  In light of the nature of the transportation industry, the Company does not maintain regular business hours.  Your schedule, the number and types of routes assigned will vary and be determined by the company’s specific business needs.  The company does not guarantee any set number of hours, days, or shift assignments.  Schedules are subject to change and may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, or multiple-day shifts.  Flexibility with the work schedule and the ability to work any shift assigned is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License with P2 Endorsement
  • Acceptable Driving Record (clean MVR)
  • Minimum of 2 or more years' driving large commercial vehicle with at least 1-year transit experience
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check
  • Experience in a supervisory role
Compensation: $27.00 - $31.00 per/hour
